Previously on Warhammer, Siege: The Chaos Boyz, on finding that the Bretonnians were about to attack their castle, sent for help and got it (i.e., and extra 50 points of troops in the final assault and a +1 to the roll of seeing when the final assault came. The Bretonnians decided to take punitive action, and set up camp on the Chaos supply lines. Lord Morgan gazed at the maps spread out before him with distaste. "You say they have troops on *all* our supply lines?" "Yes, lord. We do not as yet have the forces to dislodge them. However, this small pass _here_ is relatively unguarded... I suggest we send a force through that is small enough not to be noticed until it is too late." "Excellent. Jord, you have command. I want you to go out and help those supplies get through. If you fail... do not return." "Yes, lord." BRETONNIA ********* The Bretonnian men at arms lounged disinterestedly by the road. The heat was making them all tired; even the Foot Grail Knights blocking the road were showing signs of wanting to get out of their heavy armour. They gazed back toward the tall fort, waiting for the orders to come to withdraw or go onward. Jon the Bowman looked away from the castle, and started to his feet; there was something coming up the road! "To arms! To arms!" Bretonnian Grail Knight Hero on foot with Heavy Armour, Shield, Double- handed Weapon 10 Foot Grail Knights (see my web page for rules) 20 Men at Arms with Spears 21 Bowmen with Bows All units have Standards and Musicians. CHAOS ***** Jord spurred his Chaos Steed onward toward the large regiment of Bowmen. The Horsemen guarding his supply wagon were lightly armoured, and would collapse under bowfire. Behind him, the Horsemen and Chaos Warriors made ready for attack, the supply wagon falling behind. Jord, Chaos Champion of Slaanesh on Barded Steed (Chaos Armour, Shield, Lance) 6 Chaos Warrior Halberdiers (Chaos Armour, Std, Musician) 5 Marauder Horsemen with Light Armour, Shields and Flails. [*[ The Besieged player has 500 points of foot and mounted troops to hold up 650 points worth of his opponent's foot troops; a long road winds down the centre of the table, the supply wagon starts at one end and must leave at the other (it moves 8" on the road, D6+2" elsewhere). The battle lasts until the Wagon leaves or until either side is wiped out. ]*] Chaos blessed the Marauders with +1WS and the Halberdiers with +1 Save. Turn 1: Bretonnia ***************** The Grail Knights, facing the wrong way, began the slow work of turning around. The Bowmen let loose a storm of arrers, killing one Warrior. The Men at arms turned to face the Chaos Warriors, hoping their flank was out of range for a charge by the Marauders. Turn 1: Chaos ************* With a thundering of hooves and feet, the Marauders charged the men at arms, who unsportingly fled, leaving the Marauders in front of the bowmen, but just out of their fire arc. Jord moved toward the Bretonnians, confident in his 1+ armour save. The wagon rumbled 8" along the road. Turn 2: Bretonnia ***************** The men at arms rallied. Turning to face the Horsemen, the Bowmen fired another flight of arrows, tumbling two marauders from their saddles. The Grail Knights were now half way through their laborious wheel. Turn 2: Chaos ************* With a thundering of hooves and feet, the Marauders and Chaos Warriors charged the Men at Arms, killing 9- the remaining 11 broke and fled, closely pursued by their foes. Jord charged the bowmen, bogging them down in combat to stop them firing. Three of the men fell to the combined attacks of him and his steed, before panicking at the fleeing of the men at arms and running. Once more, the wagon moved along the road. Turn 3: Bretonnia ***************** The Men at Arms and bowmen rallied. The Grail Knights were finally facing the right way. Turn 3: Chaos ************* Jord charged the bowmen for the second time, killing two. The Men at Arms were charged by the Marauders and Halberdiers again, were reduced to 6 men, and ran from the table, closely followed by the Marauders. The wagon decided that trying to pass the Grail Knights would be a bad career move, and left the road. Turn 4: Bretonnia ***************** The Grail Knights moved toward the wagon. Another two Bowmen fell. At this point very little happened in each turn, so I'll summarize: The returning Marauders and Chaos Warriors moved toward the Grail Knights, who charged Jord in the flank. The Marauders charged the Grail Knights in the rear, the Bretonnian hero (who had refused the challenge the first time) challenged Jord, took a wound and almost killed him in return (Jord barely made his save). The grail knights died very slowly, reducing the Marauders to 1 man. Jord attacked the Hero once again, killing him; the Bowmen panicked and fled, just as the Grail Knights were annihalted. Everyone then charged the bowmen, killing half the unit, then running them down. Meanwhile the wagon was trundling along on the other side of the hill; it eventually rejoined the road and left the table. RESULT ****** A win for chaos! Thus, nothing would happen. THE NEXT TURN ************* Both sides constructed siege equipment, the Chaos forces getting 50 points, the Bretonnians getting 30.
